One of the famous festivals celebrated especially in South India.
Pongal is the harvest festival of Tamil Nadu. All the people here show their deepest gratitude to the sun,cattle and the nature. The traditional 'pongal' is prepared b boiling rice with jaggery and milk. This thanks giving festival is celebrated on the first day of the Tamil month(Thai maasam), which falls on the mid of January. This year it will be celebrated from January 14-16.This four day festival is celebrated all over the state. Everyone decorate their house and also chew the famous sugar cane.
